Evolution of UFC Rules by MMA Norwichmma norwich

Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC is the biggest American event of Mixed Martial Arts or MMA. MMA Norwich features fighters with different fighting techniques coming together on a single platform to showcase their talent. Now as the fighters belong to different genres of fighting regimen therefore it is important to set common ground rules that are implemented on everyone alike.

Learn the rules from MMA Norwich

The rules of UFC divide the fighters into seven categories of fighters depending upon their weight. This is done so as to ensure transparency and fairness in the game so that a fighter doesn’t have the undue advantage of weight during takedown. A fighter emerges a winner in the following conditions:

  • When the opponent taps out.
  • When judges’ rule in favor of a fighter when the time duration of 5 minutes runs out.
  • When the doctor declares the injury of a fighter as serious.
  • When the referee has to intervene either due to a deadly deadlock or due to no progress from either of the fighters to a dominant position.

These rules were not made immediately with the inception of this sport. They have evolved over the ages as UFC1, UFC 2, and UFC 3 and so on. In UFC 1, it was written ‘no rules’ but actually there rules that prohibited biting, gouging and small joint manipulations. The ending of fights was declared by either tapping out or throwing the towel.

The UFC 2 changes were quite a shocker. The cages were made to have higher bars and lesser floor padding, thereby putting more danger for the fighters. Time limits on the rounds were dismissed. The ban on strikes on the groin was removed though the grabbing of genitals was still illegal.

The power to the referee to stop a fight when a fighter cannot save himself was given through the UFC 3. But it was only through the UFC 5 that time limit of 30 minutes to wrap up the fight was introduced. The first super fight was also witnessed during this amendment. UFC 6 gave the authority to the referee to stop the fight in a deadly deadlock and restart the fight by sending the fighters to extreme corners of the ring.

MMA Norwich has evolved since these historic days, but let's see more.

With UFC 12 the division of heavy weight and lightweight were introduced. The UFC 14 introduced the concept of wearing gloves of 4 to 6 oz to prevent injuries to wrist and hand.UFC 15 introduced limited striking area rule and it was with UFC 21 only that current 5 minute rounds came into existence. The UFC 31 aligned the weights category to the current seven categories. And finally it was UFC 94 that prevented the use of lubricant on the body of the wrestler during a fight.

Our mma norwich classes always talk about the history of the art. MMA norwich training holds to the rules and the way we coach.

This is how the current UFC rules came into existence. Amendments and evolutions came in to save the fighters from injuries and also to make the sport, MMA Norwich more transparent and fair. So go ahead, know all the rules from MMA Norwich or any other source and enjoy the sport.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA Norwich) Rules

mma norwich

Mixed Martial Arts or MMA Norwich is a sport that combines different forms of fighting into one single sport and allows a fighter to try every possible technique that he feels comfortable and apt to use. However he can use them subject to a few rules, which I’d explain in the preceding paragraphs. MMA Norwich is a full body contact combat sport and therefore the extent of injury can be serious.

Earlier when this sport was incepted the techniques used by the fighters were not fierce but now due to globalization the techniques have evolved and the risk of fatal injuries has also increased. Therefore the rules associated with Pankration (Greco-Roman form ofMMA) evolved with every new style such as Vale tudo, Japanese Wrestling and UFC. The sport became fiercer and more aggressive over the years and therefore rules were required to remove the lawlessness and barbarism if the sport. Hence on 30th July 2009 finally the unified rules of MMA Norwich were accepted.

Learn the Weight For MMA Norwich

The Mixed Martial Arts or MMA Norwich rules divide the fighters according to the weights. This was done to make the fight fair since it’s easier for a heavy weight fighter to crush a lightweight fighter. The nine weight classes are flyweight (up to 56.7 kg), bantamweight (up to 61.2 kg), featherweight (up to 65.8 kg), lightweight (up to 70.3 kg), welterweight (up to 77.1 kg) middle weight (up to 83.9 kg), light heavy weight (up to 93.0 kg), heavy weight (up to 120.2kg) and the last one is super heavy weight, which has no upper limit for weight.

To protect the fighters from cuts and bruises on their hands they were made to wear gloves with open ends at the finger side. The amateur fighters are made to wear heavy gloves i.e. of around 6 oz while the professional fighters can wear 4 oz gloves. Gloves ensure safety to hands and wrists. They were first introduced in Shooto, the Japanese form ofMMA Norwich.

In order to save time and energy of the fighters, the fighting rounds were timed in MMA Norwich. A concept of three rounds was introduced with the duration of each round as 5 minutes. The referee could stand up both the fighters if they are wasting time and not advancing to fight or resting on the ground.

The decision of victory in Mixed Martial Arts or MMA Norwich depends on various things. A fighter can be deemed victorious if his opponent taps out. Victory can also be given by judges’ result at the end of the three fight rounds. The referee can also deem a fighter victorious if his opponent cannot defend himself intelligently and has succumbed to defeat. The injuries of the fighter can also make him lose the round if they are declared serious by the doctor present.

Clothing at MMA Norwich

The clothing rules for MMA Norwich fights have been set as shorts and bare-chested for guys. Guys are also required to wear a groin underneath their shorts. Gals can wear shorts and a sports-bra for the fights.

Common Disciplines in MMA Norwich trainingmma norwich

Mixed Martial Arts or MMA Norwich is a very aggressive and skillful complete body combat sport that allows fighters from different fighting schools and trainings to combine together their skills and prove their mettle in the fighting rounds. It is often called barbaric as well. But MMA Norwich allows one person to inculcate in himself the best of qualities offered by each sport and therefore it is often considered better than individual sports.

The traditional martial arts aim at improving particular aspects and not provide a complete a package as one can have through Mixed Martial Arts or MMA. The techniques of grappling and striking are mainly used in MMA Norwich but it also develops other aspects of a person. A detailed list of disciplines of MMA Norwich is discussed in the preceding paragraphs.

The first thing at MMA Norwich gym

The very first discipline of fighting included in the MMA Norwich training is wrestling. Wrestling is most widely used in Mixed Martial Arts or MMA Norwich. Wrestling helps a fighter to take down his opponent with great strength and impeccable technique. It is useful in both the conditions i.e. when the fight is happening while standing and when the fight has hit the ground. Wrestling teaches the fighters some explosive movements and trains them to have a good stamina.

The second discipline of fighting used in MMA Norwich and its training is the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This technique became popular due to Royce Gracie in 1990 when he won the first, second and the fourth Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The movie ‘Never Back Down’ showcases this talent or fighting technique very beautifully. This technique became so popular because Royce could defeat people practicing wrestling, boxing, judo and all other forms of Asian, American, Chinese and Japanese fighting techniques.

The next technique used in MMA is the art of Catch Wrestling. I don’t really know much about it except that it is from the English mainland and can be seen to have influence from the Indian style wrestling called ‘kushti’ and Japanese style shoot wrestling. Many fighters have used it to get agile, flexible and learn the fatal deadlock techniques.

The other techniques used in the MMA Norwich training are those of Judo and Karate. In judo the art of ground grappling or ne-waza and the art of standing grappling or tachi-waza is used prominently in mixed martial arts. It provides the fighter the enormous strength and required precision for the deadlock to happen so that the opponent taps out. Karate being the father for kick boxing provides strength to the fighters legs and adds up better workability and mobility to the fighter’s style of fighting.

The last discipline that is used to increase the striking and clinching techniques of fighters in MMA is the Thai form of boxing called Muay Thai. It enables the fighter to develop enormous strength and agility in movement with high concentration levels so as to increase the power of the fighter. It helps the fighter to use his legs, knees, elbows and fists to the full potential. It is the art of eight limbs therefore and is most widely used by MMA Norwich fighters in UFC.

Cage Fighting Norwich or MMA as you all know is a form of fighting technique that mixes different forms of fighting together and allows each fighter to utilize his expertise and training in individual forms of fighting. However now a days with the increased popularity of Cage Fighting Norwich and tournaments like the Ultimate Fighting Championships or the UFC, the training especially in MMA is gaining popularity. Fighters go for specialized MMA training at centers such as in Norwich,Norfolk.

Till the 1900s or the late 1990s there weren’t any set rules for Cage Fighting Norwichand as a result this sport was considered barbaric and lawless. The injuries incurred by the fighters were also very severe. It was also condemned by noted politicians and their parties all around the world. But in 1993 some ground rules were established and by July, 2000, the final unified rules for Cage Fighting Norwich came into existence. Keeping these rules in mind several strategies were developed by the coaches and fighters to train in MMA.

Cage Fighting Norwich Strategies

Cage Fighting Norwich or MMA utilize the two basic techniques i.e. of striking and grappling. All the strategies devised are based on these two basic techniques. The basic idea behind MMA training is to combine the best of each discipline and increase the strength, power, thrust, agility and flexibility of the fighter.

The first strategy used by Cage Fighting Norwich fighters in the ring is the ‘sprawl and brawl’ technique. It is an effective technique striking while standing up and when the fight hasn’t touched ground. It is used to avoid taking the fight to the ground so that the chances of deadlocks and tapping outs can be avoided. This technique is usually well learnt through disciplines of Muay Thai, Judo, Boxing and Thai Boxing. It teaches them not give into submission while wrestling and maintain their standing position to avoid takedown.

The second strategy used in Cage Fighting Norwich fights and taught during MMA training is the clinch fighting technique (also called dirty fighting technique). This technique is to prevent the opponent to go out of the clasp of the fighter while the fighter attempts to takedown the opponent while punching him at the same time. This strategy uses knees, elbows, stomps and punches. It is well used by boxers to increase knee and elbow accuracy while wrestlers use it to neutralize the striking skills of a superior stand up fighter.

The third and most commonly used strategy of Cage Fighting Norwich fighters is the ‘ground and pound’ technique. In this method the fighter takes down the opponent on to the ground and then continuously tries to get him in to submission by pounding him with punches via the elbow and the fist. This technique is most commonly used by fighters with a wrestling background.

BJJ For Cage Fighting Norwich

The fourth strategy used by the Cage Fighting Norwich fighter is that of sub-seeking or submission grappling. It came from Brazilian jiu-jitsu and is used by fighters to constantly change their position so as not to give into submission and avoid tapping out.

These were the four main strategies used by Cage Fighting Norwich fighters. While doing your MMA training keep all these strategies in mind so that you can have a head start against your opponent.
